Daniel was awarded a place to run the London Marathon in April 2020 through a scheme set up in partnership with the Daily Mile. This scheme offered 40 places to teachers from London schools taking part in the Daily Mile. Only one place was awarded to a teacher from a school in Harrow – and that teacher was Daniel! Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, the marathon event was postponed until October and participants were given the opportunity to run the 26.2 miles ‘virtually’ developing their own route. Daniel was very keen to still run the marathon and worked out a route which took him on a tour of the five southern schools in the Eden Academy Trust. Daniel inspired so many of the children at Alexandra with his running journey and raised an incredible £1,579 for his nominated charity The Newman Holiday Trust.
