To celebrate 50 years of Alexandra School (which opened on 15th April 1975), the School Council discussed what would make a good party. They decided that a good party should have fancy outfits, games, pizza, cake and music! So we organised all of that for the first Friday of the summer term. Everyone wore colourful t-shirts that the children had tie-dyed. Pass the parcel was played in class and there was a treasure hunt around the school grounds. Everyone ate lunch together on the playground – pizza and cake as requested! Children and staff wrote their favourite memories of Alexandra School on post-it notes, which will be used to make a display to commemorate the day. Then we finished the day with a special singing assembly, with old friends who had come back to visit, including Dan the Music Man (who led the assembly) and Dennis and Sue, who were headteacher and deputy head for many years. It was a lovely day which celebrated the community of Alexandra School and how once you’re part of the Alexandra gaggle, you never really leave!
