Home School Agreement
Our staff at Alexandra work hard to maintain effective communication with parents. We know this is a particularly important issue when so many of our pupils come to school on the bus and we don’t see parents on a day to day basis.
- Each class has an email address which staff use to contact parents at least once per week and whenever there has been a cause for celebration or concern.
- Parents are able to email the class team with any messages, news or questions they might have.
- For parents who do not have access to email, we provide a home school link book.
- Staff may also phone or text parents, when appropriate.
Another important method of home school communication is Fronter, our password-protected, school community website. On Fronter, parents can view their child's portfolio, watch videos of school assemblies, see the school lunch menu for the week and find out about many more aspects of life at Alexandra. Class teams post weekly news flashes on Fronter with photos and information about what has happened in class each week. We also produce a termly Newsline which gives all the latest news about events at school.
We hold three parent teacher meetings during the year, one per term. In the Autumn term, parents meet with the class teacher to discuss their child's Individual Education Plan. In the Spring term, the class teacher reviews the child's Statement. Parents are invited to attend a meeting with a member of the School Leadership Team, to discuss the statement review. Finally, in the Summer term, parents meet with the class teacher again, to discuss their child's learning journey during that year.
Parents are also encouraged to attend termly class assemblies, the Christmas production and other curriculum events during the year. We end the summer term with a whole school BBQ and prizegiving.
