Looking back at
the start of term, when we welcomed 17 new children and at
least half a dozen new members of staff, it feels like more
than just three months ago. What a lot has been packed in
since then! It has been a busy but enjoyable autumn term.
In the style of “The 12 Days of Christmas”, here are some
of the highlights of this term:
Fridays, with fresh fish bought from the local fishmonger
and cooked for us by Anoushka and Emma
Badges awarded to children for keeping the Golden
Rules (that was at the last count – the total is probably
higher by now!)
Assemblies, videoed and uploaded to Fronter for those
who might have missed them
Clubs this term, including football, choir, bingo
and the incredibly popular loom bands!
a-honking… just checking if you were concentrating!
(And couldn’t think of eight of anything!)
School Council Meetings, where the children have
discussed topics like the film club, reading records, the
pupil survey and the Christmas charity
have swum this term, at Hatch End, Aspire or Sunshine
of Active Play Week, children, staff and parents
getting out and getting active!
Clubs this term: martial arts, sensory club and trampolining

I would like to wish our children and families a very Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year. We will see you all again
on Monday 5th January! Best wishes

Parent and Family
This term we welcomed
three new parent governors. Thank you to Mark, Karen and Tokie
for volunteering for the role. They join Allie to make a fabulous
foursome of parent governors on our governing body!
We hope that lots
of parents have had the opportunity to visit school this term.
Parents have been invited in for class assemblies (available
to watch on Fronter) and for healthy eating activities early
in the term. Then there was a run of Family Learning sessions
with a focus on gardening. If you have the opportunity to
sign up for Family Learning next term—do! Families who take
part are always very positive about the sessions.
We’ve held various
Gate Gossip afternoons and workshops this term, discussing
topics like home school communication, transition to high
school, toileting, active play and using Fronter. The first
week of December saw our wonderful Table Top Sale, organised
by Jan and her band of parent helpers. We are currently planning
our parent and family events for next term, so if you have
any ideas or requests, do let Jan know.
Goodbye and Hello
This term we have
already said goodbye to Holly (LSA) who went to spend time
with her growing family, and to Daniel (LSA) who went travelling.
Amelia (teacher) went on maternity leave in November and has
since welcomed her second son Jonas into the world! (And Dennis
Goldthorpe’s second grandchild!)
At the end of term
we will say a fond farewell to Lewis, who has been a pupil
at Alexandra since 2011. We all wish Lewis lots of love and
luck in the future. You will always be one of our geese!
In January we
will say hello again to Georgie (LSA) who is returning from
her maternity leave. It will be good to have her back.
Don’t forget to
check Fronter regularly, to read the weekly class newsflashes,
watch any assembly videos and find out what is for lunch!
If you’ve been away from Fronter for a bit, do check it out.
