Welcome to the Autumn 2007 edition of Newsline

Looking back over the Autumn term

The longest Christmas card In the world…….

Thanks to everyone who made a card and to everyone who contributed money. You raised £250 for Children in Need! When the Harrow Observer came to take the photo the card was 35 metres long. We are in touch with the Guinness Book of Records and hope to have our record verified in the new year. Well done Carly Cooley, who designed the winning card.

The School Conference

Parents, Staff and Governors gathered on October 13th to contribute their ideas for the new school development plan. We were led by Ofsted inspector Jacque Cook, who had already spent some time looking through our self evaluation papers.

Jacque challenged us to find ways to engage all parents and all pupils and to be a truly inclusive school.  The  working groups  provided a torrent of ideas, some of which we are already putting into practice, others will go into the plan for the next one to three years.

Ballad of Bethlehem

This year our Christmas show was a traditional nativity with words, songs and music. The story was told by Amina and Lee and acted out by the children in every class. I was delighted by the performances in both shows and I know that parents must have been really proud of their children. A DVD of the afternoon production will be available in the new year.

Other notices:

· Well done Marieangela Amos, who led us to a regional award in British Food Fortnight

· We welcome back Norma West who is returning to work after a long illness.

· Congratulations to Charmaine Bromfield and to Helen Edwards who are both expecting babies in March. I will be sending a separate letter to parents whose children are in classes where we will have to make staff changes because of  maternity leave.

· We have been re-awarded Arts Mark, in recognition of the wide range of art and arts related work the children are doing in school.
