Alexandra School became an academy
on 1st September 2013. Local authorities make referrals to us, of
children they think would be well-placed at Alexandra.
Pupils at this school
will have had a full assessment of their special educational needs
and will have a Statement. Some children
come to the school at four or five years of age and this will be
their first school. Others come after a period in mainstream school.
Once a referral has been
made we will read all the papers and arrange to see the child, probably
at his or her current setting. Then we will inform the child's local
authority whether or not we think we can meet the child's needs.
Entry arrangements are
flexible and children can join us at any time in the school year
once a placement has been agreed. However, places can be scarce
at Alexandra and we apologise to parents who want their child to
come here but who find the school is full.
